| Will go for strikes if Govt fails to announce DA within 3 days: Wani | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 17 : With the state Cabinet on Wednesday keeping the disbursement of DA to the state employees in limbo, the move has made the workers aghast-stating that the delay was an uncalled for action. The Employees' Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani stated that they will call strike if the government doesn't disburse the DA for the employees within three days. Scores of state employees while expressing their dissatisfaction over the state cabinet for not approving their Dearness Allowance (DA) that was due in their favor since January 2014, stated that when the employees working in various centrally governed departments are about to get their 50 percent merger of DA with their basic pay, the state employees of Jammu and Kashmir are crying for the demands that is for long overdue. They stated that the disbursement of DA is in the budget provision and that the state government needs no extra amounts for the disbursement of the same. "During the holy month of Ramadan, we had high hopes that the 10 percent of the DA shall be given but the state government has disheartened us again," a pensioner namely Ghulam Mohammad of Central Kashmir said. Employees' Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani said that the delay in the DA disbursement is turning into a huge issue as the same is pending from the last seven months. He stated that the EJAC will issue the strike calls if within the period of three days, the government doesn't disburse the DA for the employees. "We have already intimated the government over the issue and once the 50 percent of DA gets merged with the basic pay of the central employees, it should be immediately implemented in the state," Wani said. |
