| Inhabitants of Ward No 2 Rajouri hold protest against PDD | | | | Rajouri, Aug 4 : Inhabitants of Rajouri ward No 2 held a strong protest demonstration against Power Development Department (PDD) over inadequate power supply and blocked Abdullah Bridge for more than two hours. Protestors while raising slogans against the department said that most of the areas in Rajouri district have been facing acute shortage of electricity for the last few months and in many areas including Rajouri city the power curtailment of 10-14 hours in a day. They said people of the district specially children facing scorching heat and in absence of power supply the grievance increases manifold. They added that frequent power curtailments and low voltage has also hampered the supply of drinking water in many areas in the district and the people are forced to drink contaminated water from rivers , bowlis etc. Demanding power as per scheduled curtailments protesters alleged that official concerned don't bother to mitigate their problems. No PDD official turned up to give assurances to the protesters but tehsildar assured the protesters that matter will be taken up with the concerned officials for the smooth supply of electricity. Similarly inhabitantys of Kotranka, Budhal Darhal have been holding protests demonstrations alleging that in the absence of power people face many difficulties and PDD officials/ department don't bother to mitigate their problems. |
