According to official sources, "sleuths of the Punjab Police force today swooped down on KZF activists and detained them for questioning from ward no 1 of Simbal camp in Jammu". They have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Pinta son of Amar Singh, Paramjeet Singh alias Pama son of Ishar Singh, both residents of Simbal Camp and Swarn Singh alias Shabba son of Ajeet Singh of R.S Pura. However, unconfirmed reports said that police has also lifted one Jasmeet Singh alias Jatti, brother of Swarn Singh for questioning from his residence in R.S Pura. The four detained are believed to be close associates of KZF Chief Ranjit Singh Neeta and were actively involved in establishing base of KZF for launching fresh operations. Sources said that the Hoshiarpur police reached Jammu following the inputs of the Intelligence agency that KZF has been activated. Sources said that the agency tapped the phone call to zero in on suspects who were continuously in contact with the other members of KZF in Punjab and Pakistan, adding that the four sent financial assistance to their counterparts in Punjab. The money is reported to be sent by Neeta from Pakistan to revive the KZF in India, particularly in Punjab. Following the inputs, a joint operation was launched in Jammu and accordingly the trio was nabbed with the active cooperation of Jammu Police. The crackdown was laid following the registration of the FIR against them under section 17/18/20 ULA 121 A, 153 A, 120 B IPC,25,54,59A act at Police Station Bagh Pur. According to official sources, the security personnel also recovered three SIM cards of Pak telecom companies and four mobile handsets from the custody of three youth. The Intelligence agencies in the state are also working on extracting more information through the seized SIM cards. The Punjab police is learnt to have questioned these three youth in the presence of J&K police and is expected to shift them for more intensive questioning in Jallandhar on Tuesday. Meanwhile SSP Jammu Uttam Chand when contacted said that the transitional remand of trio has been granted to the Punjab Police for their further questioning in the Punjab. Pertinently, earlier in the year 2010 Jammu Police busted a network of notorious group of militants headed by Neeta, who is so called chief of Khalisthan Zindabad Force (KZF). KZF is a dreaded but defunct terrorist organization which was operative in Northern states of India including J&K during mid 80's and early 90's. Police lifted two gangsters identified as Parveen Kumar son of Bihari Lal and Satnam alias Tiny son of Prabu Dyal from the area and during their interrogation they confessed that they were working for Neeta. They also admitted that the cache of arms and ammunition which was recovered by BSF last year was being smuggled by Neeta from Pakistan. They had to deliver the consignment to one Darshan Singh son of Pritam Singh resident of Nadipur,RS Pura. Further, KZF made its appearance when on 29 December 2009 Border Security Forces troops deployed at Bakarpost recovered a cache of arms and ammunition. The case was registered in this connection with the RS Pura police and police was burning midnight oil to un earthen the nexus of smuggling arms and ammunition besides narcotics. Police also conducted a raid in the residence of Neeta at Simbal Morh, RS Pura but could not achieve success. Neeta is at present hiding somewhere in Pakistan and has strong network in RS Pura and adjoining areas. Meanwhile, Punjab Police Monday said it has foiled a joint conspiracy of two Pakistan-based militant outfits, the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), to carry out strikes in the state. "We have foiled an attempt to commit terrorist acts by arresting three militants from Jammu and busting the joint module of the KZF and the KLF which was being controlled by KZF chief Ranjit Singh Neeta and KLF chief Harminder Singh Mintu," Jallandhar zone Inspector General Nirmal Singh Dhillon said in Chandigarh. The module was funded and coordinated by terrorist elements based in Spain and Britain, he said. Dhillon said that the terrorists and their masters in other countries wanted to commit terrorist strikes in Punjab. "The two militant outfits had decided to combine their resources and operatives to launch a spectacular and determined terrorist attack in the near future," he said. He said that the terrorists had visited Pakistan and Thailand and investigations have also revealed that the militant module was being funded by Europe-based operatives who were sending funds here through Money Gram and 'hawala'. |
