KATHUA, Aug 4: In protest against inclusion of Nigali, Kodal and Jaikar panchayats in newly created Mahanpur tehsil, the residents of three panchayats of Basohli today called on District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua here today. The deputation of the residents of three Panchayats led by Chand Singh apprised the DC that their panchayats are too far-off from Mahanpur whereas the people of these panchayats have easy access of Basohli Tehsil which is geographically near to the panchayats. He further said that on this relevant and justified ground, the administration should play an effective role to address the plights of thousands of people of three Panchayats who demand to stay remain with Basohli Tehsil. In response, the DC Kathua patiently heard the deputation and assured the demand to be addressed after having consultation with the higher authorities. |
