| MGNREGA supporting staff demands regularization | | | Kishtwar, Aug 4: The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) supporting staff of Kishtwar has asked government to consider their demands of regularization and increase in honorarium, added that they are being discriminated as supporting staff of other central schemes are getting much higher honorarium. In a day-long meeting at Doda which was held under Presidentship of Ashiq Hussain Tantry and was attended by vice President Shafqat Hussain and other members, president Ashiq Hussain said that they have completed seven years as supporting staff of MGNREGA but their honorarium is still much less than supporting staff of other national schemes like National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. "Had supporting staff of MGNREGA of Jammu district or Kashmir valley completed seven years, their leaders would have raised their issue and government must have acted in positive way. But Chenab valley has been always subjected to discrimination and MGNREGA supporting are no exception," Ashiq said. He said that they have remained always at the front and implemented each and every guideline issued by union government. "We are still considered the back bone of functioning of rural development department in the region and every work will remain incomplete till we put the same on internet and do paper work. But still government is not taking steps to regularize us and increase monthly honorarium," he added and said. "We not only work for MGNREGA but schemes like BRGF, IAY and other works, our support is being utilized. Even during elections, we are being taken from one place to another to do work,". |
