| Congress to repeat 2008 poll list of candidates to prevent desertion from party | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 4 : While the BJP and the Congress are in a fix over the selection of candidates for the ensuing Assembly election, the PDP has almost completed its list and the National Conference has finalized third list of candidates. In fact the PDP was the first organization to release list of its candidates for the ensuing poll. The BJP is unsure about the prospects of those who had been first expelled from the BJP for anti-party activities and later readmitted. In addition to this it has left its doors open for new entrants especially for those belonging to the Congress so that after the party high command examines the claim of such leaders it would release the first list. The party high command has decided to allow Lal Singh a congress rebel to join the BJP and give him the BJP mandate for contesting the election. Another important reason for the BJP to delay release of its list of candidates is it expects some Congress ministers to join the BJP. But senior Congress leaders have vehemently denied that some Congress minister had intention of joining the BJP. Party sources said that to prevent some Congress ministers and legislators from joining the BJP the leadership of the state unit of the Congress has recommended to the party high command that all the party ministers be given the Congress ticket for contesting the election. It has also recommended that all those 17 party leaders who had won the 2008 election be fielded again. |
