Vishal Air Plaza fined Rs 25000 for over charging 8/5/2014 12:14:59 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 4: The department of Legal Metrology today fined Vishal Air Plaza situated at Bahu Plaza an amount of Rs 25000 for over charging here today. According to Manoj Prabakar,Deputy Director Legal Metrology,the fine was imposed following the complaint of a consumer that he was charged Rs 52 on the purchase of a packet of spices with MRP of Rs 48. Based on the complaint of consumer, a dummy consumer was deputed to purchase the said item and the dummy consumer was also charged the excess price forcing the department to register against the management. Accordingly a notice was served to the company to showcause the reason for default. The company through their authorized signatory in their reply put the responsibility on the shoulder of the salesman and pleaded the mistake as unintentional. However, the department did not accept the replay as the same mistake was committed twice and that too through online billing.
