8/5/2014 12:15:26 AM
Jammu, Aug 4 : The Anganwadi workers have staged protests against the state government for its failure to address the genuine demands of the workers which including release pending salary, enhancement in salary, status and promotion of senior Anganwadi workers and others. Dozens of workers assembled at outside Press Club Jammu under the banner of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) led by Swarna Choudhary, raised slogans against government for not considering their long pending demands.
The agitated employees demanded that as the prices of the essential commodities have increased manifolds they should also be given hike in their salaries.
"Other state governments have increased the salaries of their Anganwadi helpers and workers, then why our state government had turned a blind eye to our problems," said another agitating Anganwadi employee. They also demanded to set up grievance committees tripartite at District and state level as per under ICDS scheme as presently official machinery failed to solve the problems of workers.
