Budgam villages agonized by lack of minimum amenities

BUDGAM, Aug 4 : Administrative and political apathy has caused years of mental agony to the people of several villages of Budgam district where people have been deprived of potable drinking water, minimum power supply and pressing shortage of food grains. Lack of basic facilities has subjected the people of many villages of the Budgam district to tremendous inconvenience. The villages such as Gotapora, Chacki Isherdas, Gagarpora, Watalpora and many adjoining villages have been the victims of the government's apathy.
Some people from Gotapora while talking to the Early Times said "The frequent power cuts, dearth of drinking water, shortage of food items and the pathetic condition of the roads is giving tough times to people. The people in power have no idea about our sufferings, in fact they have no consideration for people, " . As per Farooq, it is only during the election times that these people make their presence to be felt around so as to leave an impression that they are serious in addressing the problems as faced by the people of the our area. But as per Farooq, when the election time is over, these people abandon the area for six years. Most of the people of these villages believe that the people in power try to prove them as the sympathizers buy issuing the emotional statements. The people in power, as according to the commoners, try hard to send a message that they share the grief of the commoners, which otherwise is not the reality. According to these people, the leaders put their heads on the feet of the commoners when the voting days approach nearer and nearer but as the election gets over, these leaders turn strangers for the commoners. As per these people, the only one thing that the leaders can do is to make promises to the people but it never turns to be practical reality.
Some people at Farashgund Budgam believe that the government exists only on the papers these days. These people went on saying that by coming up with the statements, the people in power want to make the commoners foolish. But these people, as per them, are conscious about the failures of leaders and are not going to fall in their trap. These people have the grievances against the government that the winter season is about to start in the Kashmir valley, yet the government has not initiated the process of macdamization. The condition of the roads is so pathetic that even the pedestrians face difficulties while walking on these roads, not to talk about the vehicles.
