| Young lawyers demand CBI enquiry into Pathania thrashing case | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 4 : Alleging Panthers Party's hired goon behind the brutal attack on the Congress leader RS Pathania, Young lawyers practicing law in J & K High Court and subordinate Courts along with other youth today protested outside Press Club and appealed to hand over the enquiry to CBI for fast and hasty justice. They shouted slogans against lackadaisical and thick-skinned attitude of Police in brutal assault on their colleague, R S Pathania, by hired goons, blue eyed cronies and contractor syndicates of Panthers Party. While calling Police as less a 'custodian of law' and more a 'depredators of civil liberties', the protesting lawyers raised some questions including: Whether Police is justified in slapping charges of 'simple hurt' u/section 323 of RPc in a case where an advocate was chased, intercepted, hit with lethal weapons on vital parts causing grievous injuries including major nasal bone-fracture?. When a detailed application was preferred before Police, why not details mentioned in the application were reduced in writing and FIR was lodged accordingly? Whether Police is justified in treating criminals as 'VIP criminals' while allowing them choicest foods, articles to them and then bailing them out from Police Station itself, particularly, when grievous injuries have been inflicted and nine stitches were planted on another victim's forehead? Why not an FIR was registered against MLA Ramnagar for 'criminal conspiracy' at whose express instance the brutal/lethal assault was carried out on the young-advocate, on the same day when High Court had issued notice to MLA Ramnagar. Were the call-detail records of assailants examined/ perused in order to fish out the ultimate truth? They further said that Pathania was just turning up home after attending a court hearing in a case filed by him whereby notice has been issued to MLA Ramnagar while High Court had stayed a proxy-complaint filed by MLA Ramnagar. The frustration of issuance of notice by the High Court had taken that much better of Singh that he planned and engineered an attack on Pathania on the same date. |
