Srinagar, Aug11; The Jammu and Kashmir police is still clueless about the mysterious fire that broke out in the Directorate of School Education Kashmir last week. The Police had registered a case under FIR number 66/2014 under section 435 RPC in this regard and had started investigations.
However, sources told Early Times on Monday that the police was clueless as yet and there was no progress in the investigation process. Police sources said that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials have been asked to collect the samples from the site. It merits a mention here that a cabin-desk which contained critical documents about private schools was gutted in mysterious fire that broke out in the Directorate of Education Kashmir here, on Thursday last. The mysterious fire which erupted in the wee hours had raised 'eyebrows' as officials believe a 'mafia' working for the private schools may have 'set' the cabin on fire to hide bungling. The fire had erupted from a table where important record of Kashmir private schools including inspection report got gutted. Director School Education Kashmir, Tariq Ali Mir while talking to ET today said that the area which caught fire under mysterious circumstances has been sealed and police has been asked to investigate the incident.
Mir, however, admitted that the fire was not accidental and added that it can be handiwork of some miscreants. Mir said that besides departmental enquiry, he was keen to get the matter investigate by the police to expose the black-sheep working in the directorate.
He said that the rooms which caught fire have been sealed by the police and investigations are on. Mir expressed his confidence in the police and hoped that the people responsible for the act will be behind the bars soon. Mir, however, clarified that the entire record of Directorate is safe. "Only desktop of the computer containing important records was damaged in the fire while as the UPS was safe and so the records.
It merits a mention here that Mir had also constituted a departmental inquiry committee headed by Joint Director (EE) to inquire into the incident. The Director School Education Kashmir had asked the committee to submit its report within a week. Sources in Education Department too believe that the fire was not accidental but there seems some 'conspiracy'. "How come it is that only table would be gutted?" they asked.
