| Rana day dreams at Nagrota | | Says NC will repeat 1977 performance | | Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 11: "National Conference is all set to repeat its 1977 performance in 2014 elections to the Legislative Assembly and provide Jammu and Kashmir a much needed strong and stable government", Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said today. Somebody has rightly said that if one does not dream how the dreams could come true. Dreaming is alright but when one resorts to day dreaming, he creates problems for himself and for others as well. Times have changed and so have the people of Jammu Kashmir state. There is no denying the fact that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah made hearts especially in Kashmir beat. But gone are the days. The NC must thank its stars that Sheikh Abdullah is not around today. The way Kashmiris have behaved during the past two decades in particular is sufficient indicator that the `lion' would have been forced to go into hibernation. Rana seems totally unaware of the developments of 1977. Morarji Desai and Jagjivan Ram did not feel dwarf. It was a strategic retreat on their part. The reality of Kashmir dawned on them when Morarji visited Srinagar. He was greeted with Pakistani flags. He was a statesman and decided to ratify the Indra-Abdullah accord by accepting defeat in the elections. Had he decided otherwise, the Accord would have been nullified. As far as equitable development of all he regions of the state are concerned, it is a mere slogan which politicians raise during election times to woo the gullible people of the state. It simply is not possible and the people of the state have understood it now. As far as development of Srinagar is concerned, the Omar led government has miserably failed. The roads, drains, water shortage, frequent power cuts narrate the story of Srinagar's woes. Rana, therefore, must refrain from day dreaming for his own good. |
