| Charges framed against three including husband of deceased in 'dowry death' case in Nepal | | | Jammu, Aug 11: In a much publicized mysterious death of Jammu Girl at Nepal, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain today framed charges u/s 34/498-A/306 RPC against three including Sanjeev Kumar Sharma husband, Kewal Krishan Sharma father-in-law and Dwarika Sharma mother-in-law of deceased Romika Sharma who was found dead in Nepal in mysterious circumstances. Principal Sessions Judge Jammu R S Jain today after hearing both the sides observed that in the present case, on the basis of prima facie in shape of the facts of the case as emerging in the statements of the witnesses recorded by the investigating agency, there is sufficient material on record for framing charge against all the accused persons for the offences under Section 498-A/306/34 RPC. Court observed there is material on record to prima facie show that the accused demanded dowry items from deceased Romika Sharma and treated her with cruelty and unable to bear the cruel treatment, Romika Sharma on 14/7/2003 committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of the building belonging to Rainbow Camera Industries Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu, Nepal. According to the CBI case, accused are permanent resident of the Talab Tillo, Jammu. Accused no.1 Sanjeev Kumar got an appointment in M/s Rainbow Camera industries Pvt. Ltd. Kathmandu Nepal in May 2002. The company provided him accommodation in the 2nd floor of the building nearby the factory in February 2003. Later he got married to deceased (Romika Sharma) here at Jammu and thereafter both of them went to Kathmandu on 14/2/2003. After staying there for some time, deceased came back to Jammu on 8/3/2003 to pursue her B.Ed studies and went back to Kathmandu on 9/6/2003. The case file added that on 5/7/2003 parents of accused Sanjeev also reached Kathmandu and on 14/7/2007 at about 5.30 AM deceased was seen lying in an injured condition in between the building of Rainbow and cloth Goddown by security guard and other employees of the factory, whereupon she was shifted to B&B hospital Kathmandu, where Dr Thiangshu Jang Thappa declared her as brought dead.
