| BJP repeating Congress mistake List of candidates still not announced | | | Bivek Mathur
Jammu, Aug11: The state unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) seems to be repeating the mistake that Congress made during parliamentary elections by withholding the list of candidates for the forth coming Assembly elections in the state for long. According to calculations, with elections bound to be held in the month of October or November, Code of Conduct will come into force from second week of the September. It implies that just a month has been left for the candidates to design their campaigns in their constituencies. PDP, Congress as well as National Conference have announced their candidates from all the constituencies of the state. National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has also announced it s list of 9 candidates from Jammu Province recently but the BJP, which is gaga over its mission 44+, is yet to announce its candidates , owing to sharp differences within the party leadership. After losing the power to BJP in the parliamentary polls, Congress stalwarts in state i.e. PCC Chief, Prof. Saif-Ud-Din-Soz and former Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare GhulamNabi Azad have learnt a lesson from the defeat and they are burning midnight oil to regain the lost glory as from Leh and Ladakh to Kathua region, the duo have been enthusing party leaders as well as workers to work hard for victory in the ensuing elections in the state. Similarly PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Party President Mehbooba Mufti are busy for the last over one year finding suitable candidates but as far as BJP is concerned, it has neither initiated any major campaigning programme nor it has organized any joining programme and the only response which the party is getting is because of the image of the party's Prime Minister NarendraModi which the party leaders can be seen or heard of singing in praise of. Further, they are of the opinion that if the list of candidates is announced one or two week short of the announcement of Code of Conduct, the Mission 44+ of the party will be nothing more than a dream . |
