| Nandpur locals stage protest against unscheduled power cuts | | | Jammu, Aug 11: Residents from border town Nandpur and its adjoining areas today staged protest against the electricity department alleging unscheduled prolonged cuts making their usual life affected. Protestors led by Congress leader Panch Babu Ram and others came to roads and amid sloganeering held protest against PDD administration this morning. They alleged that people especially the farming community is facing problems the unscheduled cut of electricity. The protesting locals have appealed for early redressal of their problem or they will intensify the protest. On receiving the information concerned SHO and Tehsildar rushed to the spot and assured the people for proper supply of the electricity. Tinku Choudhary, Rakesh Choudhary, Sahil Sigh, Gurdeep Singh and other were also participated in the protest.
TSPC elects new executive body Jammu, Aug 11: The members of Temples & Shrines Prabandakh Committee (TSPC) Tral/Awantipora of Kashmir held meeting under the supervision of H L Bhat election authority (Commission) and elected new body to look after the affairs of the committee. During a transparent cum democratic mechanism, the participating members voted for the new executive body and elected new office bearers unanimously. Among those elected for the new executive body included namely as Jawahar Lal Pandita as President; Piaray Lal Bhat as Vice-President; Chuni Lal Bhat as General Secretary and Sanjay Raina as Treasurer.
JU holds 104th Syndicate meeting Jammu, Aug 11: University Syndicate met in the University of Jammu under the Chairmanship of Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor and took a number of important academic decisions. BB Vyas, Principal Secretary to Govt, Finance Department and Financial Advisor JU, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary to Government, Higher Education also attended the meeting. Vice Chancellor welcomed the members and apprised them about the major developments and achievements of the University. Prof Ishar informed the Syndicate that the University is holding its 14th Convocation on 1st September 2014 wherein Sh. PranabMukheerjee, Hon'ble President of India will be the Chief-Guest. Prof. Ishar also informed the Syndicate that the University has taken several new initiatives for the benefit of students. He said that the University has successfully implemented the semester system at the Under Graduate level and admissions in various colleges have been made on this basis. The University has introduced Choice-based credit system at the Post-Graduate level in the Main Campus Besides this, the University has also completed admission process to various Post Graduate programs offered by main and off-site campuses. He also informed that many new research projects have also been initiated in the University. In its 104th meeting of the Syndicate, 34 agenda items were presented by Prof. M. K. Dhar, Registrar, University of Jammu. BSP leader Salgotra holds meet Jammu, Aug 11: As a part of his campaign for coming Assembly Elections, BhartiyaBhajun Party (BBP) Candidate for Raipur Domana Constituency Advocate NareshSalgotra held a meeting at DomanaMandir. A large number of people attended the meeting. Addressing meeting, NareshSalgotra stressed upon the development and government plans for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society which were not properly implemented by the present MLA of BJP. He said the people of Raipur Domana Constituency faces lot of hardships as their genuine demands like road renovation, water scarcity, and unscheduled power supply are totally neglected by the present MLA for the last five years. He appealed the people both old and young specially unemployed youth to make the party strong and vote in his favour in the upcoming Assembly Elections so that the genuine demands of the people may be fulfilled.
