| Allegedly tainted CAPD official given important posting | | | Mohd Irfan
Jammu, sept 8: Alleged to be involved in the multi-crore carriage scam, a CAPD official has been given an important posting in Rajouri. Instead of ordering a probe into the allegations against him and then booking him under relevant sections of law, the government awarded him with an important posting in Rajouri, official sources said. The official is alleged to be involved in Rs 44 cr carriage scam in CAPD which took place in Rajouri from 2009-2011. The scam has come to fore when in the year 2012 when two CAPD employees SomDutt and Suresh Kumar were depositing Rs 1 cr in the bank against a deposit slip on which the depositors had mentioned an amount of Rs 2 cr. This had led to a suspicion as a result of which police had taken a cognizance of the matter. Three years have passed and police are yet to dig into the case. The official, who is alleged to be in the eye of the storm, moves around freely without any fear of law enforcing agencies. Following complaints against him, he was transferred to Samba. He got another posting in Reasi and now he has again been posted in Rajouri. Inquiry against him was conducted by an ADC and an Assistant Commissioner. Sources said they had submitted their report to their senior who was yet to take any action in the matter. Some people had put the complaints against the official in the CM's Grievance Cell but it seems to have taken no notice of the matter, the sources added. Sources said no scam was possible without the alleged support of some higher ups. "The names of officials have been mentioned in the multi-crore carriage scam but the speed with which the probe is going on, it may decades to complete the investigation," the sources added. Sources alleged that since the official involved had good relations with higher ups in the civil secretariat, investigating agencies hesitated to move against him. There has been strong resentment against him in Rajouri town. Sunita of Rajouri said people won't tolerate corruption anymore. "Scams occur when there is a nexus in the department," she alleged. Despite repeated attempts, CAPD director could not be contacted for comments. |
