Army Havaldar trapped in landslide, rescued
** Troops give tents, other items to civil authorities

MENDHAR, Sept 8: An army Havaldar sustained severe injuries after he was trapped in a landslide at his residence at Harmutha near Gursai here this morning.
Landslides occurred in Harmutha village at about 6 am, damaging several houses. The house of HavaldarAkramHussain of 9 JAK LI was also damaged in the incident and he was caught under the debris, official sources said.
After the matter was brought to their notice, troops of 49 RR rushed to the spot and started removing the debris from there. It took them over six hours to remove the debris and rescue the trapped havaldar, the sources added.
After first-aid, the troops evacuated him to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar. He is at present posted at Gujarat and had come home on leave.
Meanwhile, army troops brought tents, blankets and other items here in a helicopter and handed them over to assistant commissioner revenue, Poonch, Shafiq Ahmad who, in turn, despatched them to the affected areas in all the tehsils of the district.
