| For state unit of BJP, charity doesn't begin at home | | | Bivek Mathur JAMMU, Sept 8: The proverb "Charity begins at home" doesn't fit in case of State unit of Bhartiya Janta Party. Whereas 29 MLAs of BJP's Delhi Assembly segment have contributed their one month's salary for the rehabilitation of the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K unit has nothing to contribute other than chanting name of Narendra Modi. A meeting was on Sunday convened in this regard by the State General Secretary of the organization Ashok Koul in presence of Legislature Party leader Ashok Khajuria, National Executive member; Shamsher Singh Manhas, State Vice President; Chander Parkash Ganga and State General Secretary, Kavinder Gupta wherein the party leaders, after due deliberations, decided to constitute "Jammu Kashmir BJP Aapda Rahat Kosh (Disaster Relief Fund) and decided to open a special bank account to help the victims of the flash floods. See the bizarre approach of the state unit of the BJP that in a crucial time when people of the state are in the dire need of any possible assistance in any form after the worst flash floods hit several parts of the state, the state BJP leaders are leaving no stone unturned to help the victims in a politically motivated style with opening of bank accounts-a policy namely "Jan Dhan Yojana", which Prime Minister of the Country, Narendra Modi launched on August 28 to connect more and more people of the country with the banks. In the meeting, it was also decided to nominate the BJP leaders as in charge of different areas to act as monitors to execute rescue, relief and rehabilitation process in a coordinated manner, perhaps, in a more coordinated manner than the SDRF and Indian Army is executing! Against this, in a rational approach of treating the flood victims, the BJP Seh Prabhari J&K and MLA Delhi, R P Singh said that he along with the 29 other MLAs feel proud to be part of this country and described it as their moral duty to help the people in distress in Jammu and Kashmir by paying their one month salary to the flood victims. He further said that though the amount may prove small but such a gesture will awaken the spirit of fellow feeling among the masses and strengthen the bonds among them. Similar was the approach of the State BJP when Chamel Singh was beaten to death in Pakistan's jail and Punjab BJP had come with financial help for the family of the Chamel Singh. |
