9/9/2014 12:25:50 AM
Kathua, Sept 8: Following with the establishment of idol of Lord Ganesha, 'Visarjan' of idol is the last part of celebration and many Ganesha Festival organizing committees' and individuals gave farewell to Lord on the final day of festival.
In joist of this, 'Sri GaneshaUtsav Committee' Kathua and one another such committee who had established Ganesha idol at Mahajan Hall Kathua, bid farewell to Lord Ganesha in Kathua canal.
The organizing committee, carry out tableau from old Girls Higher Secondary premises to Dream Land Park. Dozens of devotees chanting hymns dedicated to Lord Ganesha, 'GanpatiBappa Moriya… MangalMurti Moriya' and playing with colors reached the canal and immersed the idol with religious fervor.
Expressing his views DrDushyantUbbot, the organizer of committee said Ganesha Mahotsav, started by freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak in 1894 with a small idol, the festival today has transformed into a major social festival and attraction centered around the community. Previously the festivals celebration was in southern part of India however, now the celebrations in the northern states too had begun.
He further said that Hindus worship idols of their gods because it gives them a visible form to pray to.
Ganesha idols made during the festival are made of clay or plaster of Paris, materials that can disintegrate in water, and are temporary. This indicates that the deity created for some time, exists for some time, and resolves only to return the next time it is time to worship him. This practice draws attention to the cyclical nature of life. Form eventually gives away to formlessness. Nothing is static in this universe. Everything changes, seasons come and go, the moon waxes and wanes, fortunes and the quality of relationships undergo a change. "The festival ending with the immersion of the idols in the ocean, or other bodies of water, and their subsequent destruction each year serves as a reminder of this belief", he added. Vice President Sandeep Singh, Cashier DrKuldeep, Diwakar Sharma and many other devotees were also present during the occasion.
