| Army launched rescue operation for flood victims in Samba | | | Samba, Sept 8 : The rivers were in spate and flowing above danger mark endangering life of local people of Raipur andGalar Village of Samba District. The lives of locals were at stake, amid heavy rainfall and flood Samba Brigade of Indian Army endeavored to rescue local residents of Village Raipur of Samba district in which 16 people were evacuated including 4 women and 3 children. In other attempt 9 local residents of Galar village in border area were evacuated,thus proving the motto of "Service before Self" by theIndian Army. Due to the heavy rainfall, the water level of BasantarRiver crossed the danger level mark and was at spate endangering the life of residents of the villages on the river bank. Owing to the sudden rise in water level 16 people of village ChakDayala and Gujjar Basti got trapped amid rising water and lost all the hopes to survive. At the nick of time flood relief column of Samba Brigade reached the spot and immediately evacuated the victims thus giving a second life to the people who lost all hopes. Mohd Lateef,a flood victim evacuated by the Indian Army narrated his story and said "It was all due to the selfless efforts of Indian Army that he alongwith his family survived the menace". In other incidence 9 local people of village Galar were evacuated and were also provided with the food. Sushila Devi,flood victim states that"I lost all hopes and was praying to god for a miracle which could save the life of my children;it was all due to the efforts of Faujibrothers that we survived. I am very thankful and proud of their dedication and care for us". |
