Consumers' block college road alleging lackadaisical attitude of Power Department

Kathua, Sept 8: Dozens of people including women and children of Lower Shiva Nagar staged protest blocking college road, alleging the lackadaisical attitude of power department responsible, here on Monday.
The protesters in the leadership of BahujanSamaj Party Assemble election candidate Som Raj Majotra raised slogans against the concerned department as well as the minister of the said department for not giving a hearing to them.
The protesters said on unscheduled power cuts and low voltage had made their life hell. Despite knowing the facts department not bothers at all as far as the service of electricity is concerned. Moreover, the people of the area are reeling under darkness from last four days due to damage of transformer.
They added that frequent damaging of transformer of the area makes them to protest against the department repeatedly.
Despite that department always, turn Nelsons' eye. Rita Devi alleging the department said that since one month they are suffering due to the lackadaisical attitude of the department.
Presently also they are bound to sit in darkness due to damaging of transformer continuously. She further added that unscheduled power cut has become a routine and students of the area are the worst suffers.
Students among the protesters complained that the power-cuts are badly affecting their studies.
Protesting students said that the department has failed to ensure proper power supply and besides the scheduled power curtailment, the authorities are resorting to unscheduled power cuts for four to five hours a-day.
ABVP State Vice-president Rahul Dev Sharma alleging the irresponsible attitude said that the day before yesterday the department replaced the damaged transformer but sooner it went wrong the moment it used.
They demanded the concerning department and district administration to stop both unscheduled and scheduled night curtailment of power.
Other than this, they also appealed to power authorities to restore the power, which is missing due to the damaging of the transformers. Karan Saini, Rajeev Lal, JiaLal, Anita Devi, Sunita Devi and many others include the protesters. Later the department officials reached the spot with police and assures of restoring the power supply possibly.
