Post flood: Commissioner JMC takes stock of flood affected low lying areas on Tawi bank

Jammu, Sept 8: Commissioner, JMC, Kiran Wattal visited Gujjar Nagar, Partap Garh, Peer Kho, Science College, Krishna Nagar and Jewel area to have on spot inspection of the work damaged due to heavy floods during past few days.
He was accompanied by Executive Engineer (T), Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Sanitation Officers and other field staff of JMC.
In Gujjar Nagar area, Commissioner JMC directed all the staff members to immediately deploy both men and machinery at Jogigate Cremation site to remove the silted mulba to make it functional. He also visited Lower Gujjar Nagar area and directed to remove the sludge and make the lanes and drains functional and directed to Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer and Municipal Veterinary Officer to use different disinfectants so there is no breakout of epidemic. In the Partapgarh area, the house was damaged due to rains and an on spot action was taken up by the Commissioner, JMC who directed to remove the overhanging portion of the building so no untoward incident may take place. In Peerkho area he directed XEN(T) to deploy labour to remove all the dumped mulba from the houses and wash the area with water and use disinfectants. In Science College and Krishna Nagar area, he directed the CTO to desilit the area and also engage the labour for its final finishing to its original status. During his visit to other areas, he also visited Asrarabad, Sidhra area where he directed to provide crates along the side of the Nallah so that flood water may not enter into the areas during the next rainy days. The Commissioner instructed all the officers to visit the area of Jewan Nagar, Gangyal and other and directed that on-spot action should be taken up without causing any delay in his direction and both men and machinery be deployed at both these sites . It was informed that 50 % work was completed and rest was in progress.
Thereafter Commissioner, JMC held the meeting in his office chamber along with all staff members and issue direction to accelerate the progress of the work and any support required be fulfilled in the interest of relief work..
