Use emergency services to help affected people: PDP

Jammu, Sept 8: Expressing serious concern over the failure of civil administration in extending relief and restoration measures to the flood victims, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the government to provide de-watering pumps and rescue boats to the people in swamped areas of Jammu. Vice President, Trilok Singh Bajwa, who after visiting rain and flood affected areas of Suchetgarh Assembly constituency held a meeting of senior leaders of party at PDP office, demanded dewatering pumps and relief material for the inundated residential areas without any further delay.
He said the health institutions be restored. Bajwa rued the administrative inertia saying that the civil administration did not seem to be serious in providing aid to the victims of floods. He said that people in flood affected areas are facing shortage of ration, fuel and safe drinking water and demanded administration to ensure supply of ration, fuel and medicines in these areas without any delay.
Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives across the state due to floods, Senior leader Ved Mahajan said that government must use all available emergency services to effected people.
Mahajan said that he visted Sidhra Rangoora, Khalaiti Mohalla, Saketar, Tada, Kah Potta of Nagrota assembly segment and people in these areas are the most affected. He said that the locals informed him that that no officer or any official from civil administration was seen anywhere in the flood hit areas to provide succor to the victims of water logging.
State Secretary Rashid Malik said that people in Chatta, Sarodi, Barmini, Beli Charana, Raika, Gujjar Nagar, Jalalabad have suffered huge loss and property and demanded that people of these area should be rehabilitated at priority basis and immediately interim relief be provided.
Ex MLA and President Mahila wing Shanti Devi, spokesperson Rangil Singh, Satpal Charak and others also addressed the meeting.
