Flash floods create havoc in Marh , Satwari: Indu Pawar

Jammu, Sept 8: Recent flash floods in Jammu region have left behind large scale devastation in Marh and Satwari blocks, said Ms Indu Pawar MLA President Pardesh Mahila Congress who conducted a visit to the flood affected areas of Marh & Satwari Blocks. She said due to damage to bridges and approach roads visit to these villages have became very difficult and people of area are in great inconvenience. During her visit Congress leader visited Marh, Halqa, Sum, Toph, Wazire Chak, Mandal, Phallian, Sardare Chak and found water still inundating many villages and huge silt deposit on many houses. In her statement she said that many deputations called upon her and apprised her that many have become shelter less and are deprived from even fodder for animals. She demanded immediate arrangements for tented shelters, distribution of ration fuel etc and fodder for animal by the administration is need of the hour. "The people of the area are living in danger of snakes & reptiles,' she stated and added that medical help needs to be geared up so that an emergency is met expeditiously. She also called for construction/maintenance agencies immediately should take up restoration of road connectivity so that people can shift their medical emergencies that require treatment at Jammu besides restoration of power supply as well as drinking water. She assured affected people to present their sufferings to the District and relief agencies to mitigate their sufferings and also advised report the damage to the survey committees visiting the area from administration side. She appealed public to be peaceful as the massive relief programme is being organized by the government. She was accompanied by Shamsher Lal, Chet Ram, Sukhdev, Verma, Soni, Suraj, Angat, Thoru Ram, Sunil Mehra Sampuran and Bittu during the tour of flood affected villages.
