| DGPC expresses concern over loss of lives due to flash floods | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sikh Student Federation, Sikh Intellectual Circle today expressed concern over the loss of lives , property, crops, live stocks and to existing infrastructure across the state. Addressing media persons, member of Sikh organization Mohinder Singh appealed the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to jointly cooperate and help the affected ones. They express deep sympathies and condolences to the families of those who had lost their dear ones in the spur of moment. The tragic incident at Nowshera resulting into loss of precious lives of the entire marriage party was most shocking. The Devastation, the flood has caused to crops, cattles, poultry birds and even erosion of agriculture land at many places has sent a shock wave amongst the farming community, who are totally dependent on agriculture. Even the loss of infrastructure include roads, electricity, communication and other connectivity has further added to the miseries of public at large. They appealed to the state government that while assessing the actual losses our organizations should also be associated so that actual losses and the sufferers were properly identified and adequately compensated. The present tragedy government should be made basis to build up infrastructure to prevent re- occurrence of such tragic incidents in future. There is a dire need to extend logistic support to passengers having valid air tickets in valley and stranded persons in severely flood affected areas. The restoration work should be taken at war footing to provide relief to affected families. Since this calamity has been declared as natural calamity, therefore they appeal to the state government to closely monitor and ensure expeditious and judicious measures. |
