Agencies NEW DELHI, Sept 24: Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha has demanded from the Ministry for Tribal Affairs, Government of India, to provide special package to flood the ravaged J&K, so that the affected people are properly compensated and rehabilitated. A 10 member delegation of Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha led by Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, state president, called on the union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Joel Oram, at New Delhi and demanded from him special package for J&K, which faced the worst ever calamity. "The initiative and prompt action of the Prime Minister is a welcome step, but the Ministry for Tribal Affairs, like other ministries, should also provide special package for the rain and flood affected people of the state", Poswal demanded from the union minister. He said, "The tribal communities have been hit worst, and as such, it is responsibility of the Ministry for Tribal Affairs to take care of the tribals as also of the other affected people", Poswal demanded. He also highlighted several other problems of the tribal Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities of the state including poor implementation Tribal Sub Plan in J&K. "The issues of tribal communities should be on top of the priority of the tribal ministry", he demanded. He further said that the students of tribal Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities are not getting their scholarships due to apathetic attitude of the state government due to which their studies are getting affected. He demanded from the union minister to make sure that the tribal students get their scholarships well in time. |
