Jammu, Sept 24 : The city of temples is not only famous in India but throughout the world, due to its temples and most importantly for the Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi which has given Jammu a distinct identity where around lakhs of devotees throng this historic shrine every year and is the main source of income for public of Jammu and its surroundings. The maximum number of pilgrims and tourists visiting Jammu through railway and the condition of this station is in bad condition. The entry and exit points of this railway station is in very bad condition and the two foot paths on both sides of entrance is encroached by small vendors and others. Those who are coming via train has to face difficult situation when they enter station area or when they are leaving. The shabby look at the entrance points are creating hassles and it gives a wrong first impression of the city. The entry point should be always clean and beautiful but here at jammu railway station, it explain a different story . As Jammu and Kshmnir is also a militant infested prone area, the station is vulnerable and the encroachment on footpath makes it more vulnerable. An illegal taxi and auto stand is also set up at the entry and exit of railway station and the local people many times demanded the removal of illegal encroachments in the area, but it has gone in the deaf ears of administration as those encroachers have influence and patronage of senior ministers and officers. Talking to Early Times, Raj Singh, a pilgrim said that he is coming in every navratra to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi, but every time he is shocked to see the deteorated conditions of entry and exit points . There is no space available for public to walk on footpath because so many vendors have virtually occupied the footpath on both sides which is meant for walk. The local administration seems to be in deep sleep. Another pilgrim, from Delhi who is visiting first time said that he had thought that jammu is a beautiful place but on the contrary I found the ntrance which gives bad look and how does it be the whole Jammu. He further added that he faced difficult time in reaching outside the station as no footpath was available to walk. How can anyone occupy footpath and that too under the nose of administration. Rattan Gupta, a local, said that he everyday goes for walk in park near entrance of railway station, but it pains me as a son of the soil to see lot of space either occupied by vendors, beggars, autowalas and taxi stand and that too illegally and wonder how administration allowed them that too at the gateway of jammu. The administration has to look seriously on the burning issue and try to make entrance and surrounding area of railway station more beautiful and clean from all mess.
