| NC leaders scared of going to people | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 26: The National Conference leadership and workers are wary of going to the people. Most of the Ministers of the party have take refuge in their residences. There is deep anger against the party especially in the Srinagar city- which has been considered a bastion of the party- even after its recent drubbing in the Parliamentary elections. Such has been the fear now in the party that even its top most leadership are not going in between the crowd. MLA Nasir Aslam Wani who is allegedly held responsible for most of the damage to the city- has been out of the bounds for the people. Ali Mohammad Sagar is trying to salvage his credibility by trying to take hold of the relief material coming from outside the state to give it to party supporters and in the process has ended up in entering into locking horns with the bureaucracy. These two were the faces propped by the Omar Abdullah to save the image of the party with the hope that they will bring back fortunes for him. The entire NC Ministerial team was out of the action. The elected MLAs though can be given time if they were not save but people say that after even 20-day they are still absent. The CM didn't move in the city for full two-weeks and tried to give semblance of the governance by flying to technical airport from his residence and here too, he was more interested in speaking to television channels. And it was only on Thursday he entered the city. "The NC has not only closed its political chapter. But, its insensitivity has made things so bad that even other parties have are now facing the ire of the public, despite not being administration. The NC will pay heavily for it," said a senior official, wishing not to be named. |
