Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Fearing public anger after their failure to solve peoples' problems following severe floods that caused massive devastation across Kashmir, the Ministers prefer to stay indoors. According to reports not a single Minister from the coalition Government has visited the flood hit areas till date. "They fear public wrath. And, why should they worry for anything, they have made money and do not want to a public beating at the end of their term," said Sajad Ahmad of Rajbagh living with his uncle at Shalimar. Reports received from dozens of flood affected villages of South Kashmir's Pulwama and Shopian districts are not any different. According to Zahoor Ahmad Bhat of Pampore 'with each passing day problems like scarcity of drinking water and failure of restoration of electricity by administration adds to peoples' woes'. "None among the Government, not any Minister or any politician visited Pampore, we have not seen anyone on ground so far now, Pampore was badly hit by floods," he added. Reports received from Samboora, Kakapora, Lelhar, Goripora of Pulwama district and from dozens of villages of Shopian district including Turkawangam, Aglar, Arihama, Nagbal, Heerpora and Sedow also reveal that none from the administration came to them. As flood in Kashmir affected every individual directly and Aali Kadal, Safa Kadal, Jajamalata, Zaina Kadal, Nawa Kadal, Kawdara and other areas earlier assured free ration quota for next six months are yet to receive it. "Water did not entered in our houses but flood hit us also, we have to face huge losses in business and we are caged in our houses from last more than 20 days, Government announced free ration but we are yet to received any such free ration quota," said Tahir Ahmed Bhat of Zaina Kadal. |
