Jammu Sept 26: Large number of students participated in the day long leaders conference organized by ABVP in Jammu University here today. Participants also included student leaders from Jammu University and hundreds of students and many more Research Scholars in which they demanded authorities to hold open students union polls.
On the occasion ABVP drafted the proposed resolution and passed it in the conference for the academic 2014-15. ABVP also constituted the new body of Jammu University. Shriniwas, Organising Secretary North Zone and Mohit Nagar (President DUSU) were the special guests on the occasion. Pawan Sharma (J&K Organising Secretary ABVP) was also present in the conference. The student Leaders discussed the various problems faced by the students within and outside the campus.
While addressing the student leaders on the occasion, Shriniwas (North Zone, organizing secretary) congratulated the entire student Community and ABVP activists for their win in the recent DUSU elections. He further said that open elections should be held in the Jammu University based on Lyngdoh Committee Recommendation as this will develop national leadership among the local youth who want to serve the country. Mohit Nagar (President DUSU) said that after a gap of 17 years, it has been for the first time that ABVP has won all the seats of Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) election.
He further said that there should be an open student union election in Jammu University as it is the need of the hour, so that this will bring transparency and accountability in the institution functionalism. He motivated those students to be the voice of change. During the occasion, SandeepArya (City President ABVP) dissolved that ABVP, Jammu University Unit and announced the new body for the year 2014-15 which included Sandeep Khajuria as President Madhu as Secretary, Jang Bahadur, Anil, Amit and Jatinder as Vice-Presidents, Rohit Singh Chib, Abhishek Dutta and Jagpreet as Joint Secretarys, Ravi Sundyal and Gurneet Sharma as Press Secretaries and Harsh Dubey as Cashier.
Meantime Gagan Sharma, Amit Kumar, Kanav Sharma, Jamal din, Arun, Rishab, Rajinder, Asha, Pulkit as executive members whereas Vikas Sharma has been named as Organizer and Lokinder Singh as Scholar Working Convener. |
