Jammu, Nov 1: Notwithstanding the tall claims of the police authorities in Jammu of tightening noose against eve teasers and providing sufficient security to the women, the girl students of one of the premier schools at Miran Sahib are regularly facing harassment for the past several months, whereas local police allegedly is encouraging the offenders just by showing its inaction in this regard, sources alleged.
Sources from Miran Sahib area informed that two boys identified namely as Sourabh and Sunny have been allegedly harassing girl students of the school for the past several months, wherein they not only use to pass lewd remarks to girl students and female faculty members but also allegedly stalk them while they (girl students) were going their respective homes.
"Due to the offensive moves of the duo, some several students turned out drop out, while some turned to be irregular to school, they lamented.
They added that many times these two boys knowing the inaction of police even have dared to enter school premises and misbehaved with the school authorities.
"Both the boys allegedly have criminal track record, due to which not many people prefer to avoid any argument with them over the issue," sources said.
Talking to Early Times, Principal of the school (whose name withheld) said when the boys rowdy behavior became intolerable, some parents of girl students along with school management went to lodged complaint at local police station on October 29, but since then no concrete actions has been undertaken by the authorities which covertly has 'encouraged the rowdy duo'.
He also alleged that the accused boys threatened him for registering complaint. "They came to my office and threatened me of dire consequences," said principal, adding, "even two SPO (cops) were also seen in their vehicles which seemingly indicates a unholy nexus between law enforcing agency and the duo."
Meantime local sources also added despite score of complainants in this regard lodged with concerned police station, no action has been taken against the culprits which left locals simmering with anger.
"Instead of taking them into custody, police officials are trying to hush-up the matter," sources said, adding what to talk of police action when the duo dared to threaten the principal alongwith SPOs (cops) to show their muscle power.
When contacted concerned Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R S Pura, Devinder Singh, said that a complaint in this regard has been registered and the hunt to nab the accused is on. "it came to my knowledge that some cops too have their name in air in this case, but we are investigating the case to verify the facts, if any body found guilty from Khakhi due action as per law will be taken against the erring individuals," assured SDPO RS Pura Singh.
