Kishtwar, Nov 1: In major setback to Congress party in Chenab region, a senior Congress leader who contested elections on Congress mandate against Minister of Roads and Building Abdul Majid Wani in 2002 today joined Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) at Kishtwar in presence of party senior leader and former State President BJP Shamsher Singh.
Besides former Congress leader, two prominent PDP leaders from Kishtwar and several others also join the party in a function at District Office BJP.
While welcoming Ex Congress candidate from Doda Mukand Ram Sharma, prominent PDP leaders Raman Shan and Shahdi Lal Parihar, former BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas said that 'Modi charisma' has engulfed the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir and joining of Congress, PDP and NC leaders in BJP is a sign of change in mindset of local leaders and ideology of BJP.
He said that like people of the country, people of Jammu and Kashmir are also fed up with Congress and local parties NC and PDP.
"With the help and blessing of common people, BJP will surely form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir" said Shamsher Singh Manhas further adding, "NC-Congress coalition has failed to come up to the expectation of people and even failed to come to the rescue of people during recent floods."
He said that both the parties has realized that they have lost public faith, the trail of which was witnessed by both the parties in recently held Lok Sabha elections wherein both the parties faces rout. Mukand Ram Sharma in his speech slams the Congress for their poor policies and ignoring the senior party leaders. He said he felt suffocated in Congress and thus joined BJP. He assured the party leadership that he will work with zeal and zest for ensuring victory of BJP candidate from Doda. Prominent PDP leaders Raman Shan and Shadi Lal Parihar (Publicity Secretary PDP) who joined BJP today alleged that poor policies of party high command led to the debacle of party in Kishtwar.
Among the others who joined BJP include Mohammad Ismail, Mohammad Hussain, Zakir Hussain, Ismail Chowdhary, Yaqoob Chowdhary, Subash Chander Kotwal, Rattan Singh Manhas and over three dozen supporters of Congress leaders Mukand Ram Sharma.
