Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 1: A Division Bench of J&K High Court has issued notice to Lakes and Waterways development Authority (LAWDA), seeking its response to a pleaa allegaing allowing illegal constructions around Dal Lake against hefty amount by its officials. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar issued the notice after reading out the content of the application to senior Additional Advocate General S A Naik representing LAWDA and Vice Chairman of the Authority, Latief-u-Zaman Deva, who was present in the court. The application addressed to Chief Justice by some persons without disclosing their identity, have demanded probe into the assets of these officials, claiming the same were disproportionate to their known sources of income. They submitted that the demolition department of LAWDA situated at the Dockyard Ishbar, Nishat here is allowing constructions of illegal structures including houses in the prohibited and non prohibited areas , marked by the department around the Dal Lake. They alleged that a DySP, who according to them was transferred prematurely from LWADA and a demolition officer were demanding Rs 25000 Rs. 50000 for allowing constructions in non-prohibited residential areas and Rs 50000-100000 for constructions in prohibited areas. They have also named few structures which according to them have been raised against hefty amounts and include 50 rooms of Heaven Resort at Ishbar Nishat, Jamal Resort at Ishbar Nishat, Sara Cottage at Ishbar, Nishat View Hotel at Brein, Eagle Resort and Hotel Grand Nishat at Naqashband Colony, Princes Beauty Parlour, Paradise Hotel, Noora Palace, Asad Resorts, J&K Water Resources Regulatory Authority office, Walisons resort, La-rouge café and Restaurant at Syed Rehmania Bazar Brein, Nishat. The Division Bench ordered that a copy of the application be furnished to Advocate Shabir Naik and LAWDA VC so that they may file response after examining the authenticity of the allegations. |
