NC writes to Governor offers unconditional support to PDP | | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 13: In a significant development National Conference today formally offered unconditional support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by writing a letter to the Governor N N Vohra for forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir. Talking to Early Times Additional general secretary of the NC, Dr Mustafa Kamaal said, "Decision about writing a formal letter to Governor was taken during the core group meeting of NC leaders on Monday. Now it's for PDP to respond." "We again urge PDP to come forward and form government with us, as people are suffering due to lack of governance. We have forwarded the letter of our unconditional support offer to Governor N N Vohra. Now it's for the PDP to decide," he added. Earlier in the day meeting of NC workers was held at party headquarters here in which top party leaders, including Ali Muhammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Sakina Itoo, and others were present, who according to sources unanimously supported the decision of their working president Omar Abdullah to offer unconditional support to the PDP besides they also agreed upon having a grand alliance between NC, PDP and Congress. Later National Conference formally offered support to PDP in a letter to Governor N N Vohra for forming the government that could break the three week old stalemate. "@JKNC_has written to Governor Vohra reiterating our offer of support to @jkpdp and asking him to call us before deciding the assembly viability," National Conference's Working President Omar Abdullah tweeted. In a statement, the party said Omar has urged Vohra to consult the party leadership before taking any final decision regarding the future of the present assembly and its viability in the formation of the government. The letter was delivered to Vohra by Provincial President Jammu Devender Singh Rana in Jammu this afternoon. In the letter, Omar said, "National Conference has offered support to PDP, which has emerged as the single largest party in the just-concluded Assembly elections. However, the political impasse in the state, due to indecisiveness of the PDP has led to the imposition of the Governor's rule and placing of the State Assembly in suspended animation despite an overwhelming participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the electoral process", the letter adds. |
