Polio Immunization Prog finalized in Kishtwar | 368 pulse polio booths, 6 mobile teams set up | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 13: A meeting of District Task Force for Intensified Pulse Polio immunization Programme 2015 was held at the district headquarter under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Mohammad Javed Khan. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sham Prasad Gupta apprised the members about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the first round of Intensified Pulse Polio immunization Programme scheduled from 18th of January to 20th of January , so as to cover every single child under five years of age. He informed the chairman that the estimated population of the children below five years in all the health blocks of Kishtwar comes to be 36684 for which 368 Vaccination Booths have been established. A total number of 1572 Booth team members that include 695 Anganwari workers/ voluntary workers, 207 health workers, 322 teachers and 248 ASHA workers have been identified. For this 74 supervisors and six mobile teams with one supervisor will be pressed into service. A total number of 40000 Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) doses would be required for the first round in all the health blocks of Kishtwar, Padder, Dachhan and Chatroo. The chairman directed the Health Department to impart necessary training to the workers so that an effective campaign is ensured. He called upon the members to strictly ensure that each and every child under five years gets the polio drops and special emphasis be given to far flung rural areas. The other members of the Task Force who were present in the meeting included Deputy CMO, Executive Engineer PDD, BMO Kishtwar, BMO Padder, BMO Chatroo, and BMO Dachhan besides representatives of various govt. departments. |
