Bid to smuggle bovine animals busted at Toll Post Lakhanpur

Jammu, Feb 11: Continuing with the drive against smugglers, a joint team of the officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur and Police Department Lakhanpur foiled yet another smuggling bid when they nabbed a vehicle carrying 16 bovine animals.
A vehicle bearing registration No JK02AH-5977 while trying to enter into the State was intercepted by the staff at Toll Post, Lakhanpur. The vehicle, which was consigned by BTS Amritsar, was subjected to physical check when reported at the Toll Post for clearance.
As per the documents the vehicle was carrying "Tiles" vide GR No. 1416 dated 09/02/18 issued by M/s Jallandhar Road Transport, Gurdaspur Road, Pathankot-145001. However, on physical checking the vehicle was found carrying 16 numbers of bovine animals. The staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur in harmonious co-ordination with Police Department Lakhanpur nabbed the vehicle and saved 16 numbers of bovine animals on spot.
The police arrested the driver of the vehicle along with accomplice. It is in place to mention here that this is the 3rd detection of bovine smuggling at Toll Post Lakhanpur since October 2017.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 15/2018 dated 11.02.2018 u/s 188 RPC 3 PC Act has been lodged in Police Station Lakhanpur.
