'If action not taken, Pakistan Zindabad will be legal in State'
Akbar Lone's sloganeering raises legal questions

Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: While the government has been largely silent over "Pakistan zindabad" sloganeering by opposition National Confernce MLA Muhammad Akbar Lone in Assembly on Februey 10, the development is feared to have -far-reaching legal implications.
Legal experts said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party -Bharatiya Janta Party has acted "non seriously" into the seditious sloganeering that took place in winter capital when Pakistani terrorists had attacked Army camp at Sunjwan here.
The experts said the government didn't ask the Speaker to get expunged the "Pakistan Zindabad" remarks nor has a police case been registered against the accused MLA from Sonawari.
"There was dire need to instantly seek expunging of the anti-India remarks to be followed by registration of FIR on charges of sedation against the MLA," the experts said.
What is feared to be more alarming is that government failure to act on these two lines will give "Pakistan zindabad" sloganeering a "legal cover."
"If tomorrow miscreants are caught for raising pro Pakistan slogans they will get a legal cover with lawyer pleading that such slogans are even raised in the Assembly," they explained.
Though the BJP MLAs had staged protests in the well of the House, these lawmakers didn't pass a resolution to seek Lone's arrest.
"What all the BJP did on the floor of the house is nothing but drama. If the party is really serious against pro-Pakistan slogans, its lawmakers should ensure getting police case registered, and MLA arrested, as otherwise Pakistan Zindabad will be another normal for the restive state," said a legal luminary.
Interestingly, while the BJP MLAs raised anti-Pakistan slogans, the PDP lawmakers remained silent. The BJP lawmakers didn't even question the silence of PDP against anti national move of the NC MLA.
MLA Akbar Lone on the other hand has declined to apologise for his sloganeering and says that he stands by every word of what he said. "I stand by my words," he pleaded before reporters.
Amid mounting controversy, the NC is playing tricks. While the Abdullahs have disassociated from Lone's remarks, the party made it clear that he would not be expelled.
"National Conference wants to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. But what needs to be understood is their tricky politics of keeping both India and Pakistan in good humor while the BJP is equally not concerned towards the Indian interests alone," the sources said.
