Cautious CM urges BJP to contain fallout of terror attack
2/12/2018 12:20:26 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: The Chief Minister has reportedly communicated to the BJP high command that the Sunjuwan terrorist attack should not be used by right wing parties to whip up communal tension in Jammu city.
She has directed the police to act tough against any attempt to whip up communal tension in the city and also take all precautionary measures.
"Mehbooba Mufti was quick to communicate to the BJP high command that the fall out of the attack has to be contained at all costs. She also communicated that nobody should be allowed to whip up communal tension in Jammu and also that minorities in the region should not be targeted even by inflammatory statements," said the senior official.
The sources said that the BJP high command has reportedly decided to contain its cadre but it has some strong reservations on the issue .
The sources said that some intelligence inputs suggested that the terrorists could have attacked to disturb communal harmony in Jammu with a larger aim to discredit the BJP which has been in power for the first time in the state.
"The BJP high command is also calculating to contain its fall out as Congress and other parties would rake up attack on it. The party is increasingly wary of the political fall out of the attack," said the sources.
The sources said that CM has communicated to the BJP that even slightest communal disturbance by any quarter could not only put pressure on the government but could strain the alliance as they too have to look out for their political interests.
"We have been able to bring semblance of normalcy in the Kashmir after quite a hard work . We don't want disturbance in this part of the state as it has more larger implications for us," said the senior PDP minister.
