Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat are going to Jammu today. They will visit Sunjwan Army camp. The defence minister will first visit the army hospital in Satwari.

Meanwhile, earlier today (Monday) a guard posted at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Srinagar's Karan Nagar foiled what would have been another attack on a security base.

While search operations for the two militants are on, a CRPF constable succumbed to his injuries.

On Monday morning Sitharaman held a high-level security review meeting. It was attended by the three service chiefs, defence secretary, and other top officials. The meeting was held at Army headquarter in South Block.

Gen Rawat, who was in Jammu on Sunday to review anti-terror operations, briefed the gathering on the incident and how it happened. He will also brief the defence minister about the status of projects being undertaken to upgrade the security of military bases.

Meanwhile, security forces have neutralised three terrorists holed up in the Sunjwan Army camp. While six people, including five Army personnel and one civilian, have been killed in the attack by suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants.

On Saturday (February 10), in a pre-dawn attack, JeM terrorists struck at 36 Brigade camp of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry in Sunjwan.

"The terrorists entered the family accommodation complex after which quick response teams cordoned off the area and isolated the terrorists, who [were] holed up in a few houses [inside the camp]," an official said.

On Sunday the Army launched a "clearing" operation and fired mortar shells at the vacated residential quarters.
