BAT operations not covert
2/21/2018 9:05:15 PM
At times Pakistan banks on the Border Action Team (BAT) whose jawans are trained in violating the ceasefire agreement and try to hit the Indian border outposts with fury. But the Indian troops are well trained and know that the BAT is the creation of SSG of Pakistan Army. In fact during the last 30 years militants, trained in the arms training camps, are also recruited in the BAT. And after a long time the BAT was in action in Poonch sector where three Indian soldiers were injured but Indian soldiers were able to eliminate one intruder. The Indian troops fully retaliated and in the ceasefire violations when the BAT used assault rifles three Indian soldiers were injured. All of them are stable. However, the Indian soldiers recovered four RPGs which some of the men of the BAT or trained terrorists had left behind. The BAT raids are supposed to be a covert affair but the cover is blown-up when in January, 2013 the Pakistani BAT beheaded the Indian soldier Hemraj and again in August as indicated. BAT's raids are no more covert because of its increased exposure in media. BAT actions aid the tactical dominance of Pakistan over the LoC, they have become purposefully counter-productive as they have a larger impact on the overall Indo-Pakistan relationship. Indian side has stated that the Indian BSF or the other Army troops never violate the LoC. Pakistan has taken proud over the BAT's combating strategies because the BAT actions also facilitate induction of terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir which has become difficult due to the dense surveillance grid on the Indian side. Thus a BAT can open a worm-hole so to say to push-in terrorists. You can compare Pakistani BAT [SSG+Terrorists] with the Indian MARCOS, Black Cat.
The men of the BAT are trained in inflicting severe injuries than death to the soldiers of the opposing Army. The men of the BAT are equipped with AK-47 rifles, RPGs and other shot guns. At times they are equipped with long range guns to cause added deaths and devastation to the enemy troops. The BAT soldiers wear snow shoes and snow gear so that they could fight with the opposing Army on high altitudes and during winter season. They take high energy food and carry satellite phones and navigation consoles which help them in tracing the activities of the opposing Army. Now that Pakistan has exported terror to India, particularly to Jammu and Kashmir the BAT operation is no longer covert and instead it is an overt operation allowing the Indian troops to understand the mischief plan of the BAT. Reports say that men of the BAT are trained to cross the LoC and carry out some action in the shape of beheading some Indian soldiers.
Whether ceasefire agreement is violated by the Pakistani troops of by the BAT the Indian troops are ready to foil infiltration bids and have been given full freedom in retaliating with force and fury. The main reason why Pakistan has not kept the operation by the BAT under cover is that whether the operation is done by the BAT or by the Pak soldiers Islamabad gets a chance to rake up the Kashmir issue on the global fora. And Pakistan is able to cash on the way Indian troops retaliate with force and fury allowing them a chance to blame the Indian soldiers for having damaged civilian infrastructure. Even Pakistan knocks the doors of the UN for securing immediate intervention for forcing India to reopen the channels of dialogue. But India has rejected any third country or even the UN intervention or mediation on the ground that since the issue was a bilateral problem it could be settled through bilateral talks. But India is not ready to reopen talks till Pakistan stops export of terror and ceasefire violations.
