Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 21: The aspirants who have opted Public Administration and Mechanical Engineering as optional subjects for Combined Competitive Examination Mains 2016, have alleged discrepancies in their question papers. The aspirants of Public Administration have alleged that several questions were out of syllabus whereas the aspirants of Mechanical Engineering have alleged that questions from the paper-II were asked in the question paper-I.
Speaking to Early Times, the aspirants, who have opted Public Administration as optional subject and the examination of which was conducted on 20th February, alleged that the Question number 2, 3, 5 (c), 6 and 8 (a) were out of syllabus. They further alleged that Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has put them at a position of disadvantage in comparison to the students, appearing in other optional subjects. "If corrective measures were not be taken, it will ultimately close the gates of selection for us", they have said in the representation submitted before the Commission.
The aspirants have demanded that only re-examination would do justice with them. "If the Commission finds that the questions were out of syllabus then re-examination must be conducted otherwise by giving some grace marks, it will not serve the purpose as the marks are counted for the interview also", the aspirants said.
The aspirants, who have opted Mechanical Engineering as optional subject and examination of which was held on January 21 alleged that they were surprised to find that in the paper-I of Mechanical Engineering, the questions from the syllabus of Paper-II were asked. "Due to such gross discrepancy in the question paper, many of the aspirants left the examination halls totally dejected", the aspirants said, adding that responsibility must be fixed by the Commission for such gross irregularity.
Controller of Examination of JKPSC, Mumtaz Ali said that they have received representation from the aspirants of Public Administration as well as Mechanical Engineering subject. "The question papers of all subjects are finalized by Subject-experts and under complete secrecy, the question papers are opened in the examination halls", he said, adding that as per rules, the aspirants have the right to give their representation, if they have any reservation. These aspirants have submitted the representation, which would be forwarded to the subject-experts. "On the opinion of subject experts, the Commission would take a final decision", he said.
