Rana inaugurates ‘Mela and Advocacy workshop’ on Water Sanitation

Jammu, Feb 21: Devender Singh Rana MLA Nagrota inaugurated an Exhibition cum Mela followed by Constituency Level Advocacy workshop on Water Sanitation at Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Nagrota.
The mela and workshop was organized by National Development Foundation J&K Jammu and was sponsored by Communication and Capacity Development Unit Deptt of PHE, I & FC. Suriya Jabeen ADDC Jammu also attended the programme as guest of honour. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF gave detailed key note address covering various aspects of water, sanitation, water conservation and Village Water Security Plan. The message on the same theme was also delivered through cultural events. Various speakers highlighted the need of making Jammu open defecation free and provisions of adequate and potable water to all rural habitants at all times.
The Departments who put their stalls in exhibition cum mela includes Institute of Integrative Medicines (IIIM) Jammu, Directorate of Environment and Remote Sensing, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Agriculture Deptt., Horticulture Deptt., Rural Development Department, Deptt. of PHE, Deptt. of PHE Ground water, Health Deptt., Social Welfare Deptt., National Development Foundation, ICDS Deptt.. Paintings on wash developed by children in various painting competitions in different part of Jammu were also exhibited in the exhibition.
Devender Singh Rana while addressing stressed upon the provision of providing safe and potable drinking water to rural habitants. He also directed the PHE Deptt to check the water quality of all hand pumps and other water resources in Nagrota Constituency and submit a report to him on or before 31st March 2018.
He asked the allied departments to work in an integrated manner so that benefits of centrally sponsored schemes reach on ground. He also announced a bus for Girls Higher Secondary School Nagrota and sanctioned Rupees twenty thousand for the picnic of school children to Sunisar.
