Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 23: Selection of the son of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice President, Mohammad Sartaj Madni as an Executive Officer in the Khadi and Village Board has generated lot of heat in the state with opposition training guns on the government.
The controversy over the appointment of Syed Aroot Madni has given yet another opportunity for the opposition parties to corner the PDP-BJP government in Jammu & Kashmir. Interestingly, Sartaj Madni is the maternal uncle of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and his son's appointment is bound to give some sleepless nights to the CM as well.
Sources told Early Times that the appointment of Aroot is bound to generate controversy since his father is a political figure and also holds an important position in the PDP. Madni was the MLA Devsar between 2008 and 2014. He lost in 2014 assembly election to Mohammad Amin Bhat of Congress.
The controversy is more heightened since the Vice Chairman of Khadi and Village Board is also a senior functionary of PDP. The Board is headed by Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, son of former Waqf Board Chairman, Peer Mohammad Hussain. Both Mansoor and Peer are close confidantes of the CM. Mansoor was the MLA Shangus in the previous assembly.
"Well before the selection process of the posts advertised in Khadi and Village Board the whole process came under a scanner. Apprehensions were raised by many people over the selection process and these people believed that the selection of candidates for the different advertised posts would not be fair. The apprehensions have been found to be true with this development," said sources.
Sources said that selection of Aroot should not be viewed as a mere coincidence as the coincidences don't happen in this part of world. They said that the selection is all set to disturb the youth more so those who had applied for the various posts at the Khadi and Village Board. It is bound to cause resentment among the educated but unemployed youth.
"Interestingly, Peerzada Mansoor's nephew, Peer Kashif Hussain figures at serial number 2 at the waiting list with roll number 101830. Most of the people figuring in the final list issued by KVIB are either children of close associates of PDP leaders or have direct patronage from the corridors of powers," said sources.
Sources said that in the coming days the state government more so the PDP would come under sharp attack from the people in opposition and common masses as well. The issue is likely to snowball into major controversy with National Conference and Congress all set to score brownie points over the same.
