Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: Unemployed temporary teachers of Jammu have expressed resentment against the state government for disengaging them from services and have demanded upper age limit relaxation in the state government jobs.
Aggrieved unemployed temporary teachers accused the present government of disengaging them from duties, without bothering about their career.
"The temporarily teachers were engaged vide order No:482-EDU of 2014, dated: - 02-07-2014 of school education department for one academic session and were selected on merit basis among 60, 000 applicants", said one of the aggrieved temporary teacher.
"We are professionally qualified unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir and present Government has disengaged services of 8475 temporary teachers in 2015, who were appointed on academic arrangement by the previous government," said a couple of teachers.
They added that the Government clubbed nearly 4000 schools, resulting into further unemployment in the state while all the temporary teachers are highly qualified with 122 having doctorate degrees.
"It has come to our knowledge that due to up gradation of more than 400 schools in 2017, more than 9000 posts of teachers are lying vacant in the Education Department," teachers said and added that on 28th December 2017 only 2154 posts of teachers were advertised out of which 1864 posts were of Kashmir Division only.
"Not even a single post of teacher has been advertised from past 3 years for 8 districts of the Jammu due to which most of us have crossed upper age limit and are ineligible to apply for any post in future also," they lamented and asserted that it is a great injustice with educated teachers, who had been appointed against formal orders by the competent authorities.
They said that either they should be granted one time age relaxation for teachers' post in particular and other posts or upper age limit should be increased/
They impressed up on the authorities including secretary education and directors of school education Jammu and Kashmir to frame a continuation policy in their favour in line with the policy framed for 2006 contractual teachers.
