Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 1: A family of Srinagar city today alleged that a member of the family died due to medical negligence at one of the leading private hospitals of the city. The family has lodged a complaint with Khanyar Police station with the plea that First Information Report (FIR) should be registered against the hospital.
Members of the family today carried out a strong protest demonstration against Khyber hospital and said that Dr. Showkat Zargar's medical negligence led towards the death of Abdul Hamid. The family members said that since the case is of medical negligence the police should register an FIR against the hospital and the concerned medico.
"I admitted my father Abdul Hamid R/O 42 Rawalpora in Khyber Hospital Srinagar on February 20, 2018 for a minor surgery as was advised by Dr Showkat Zargar. The procedure was done by Dr Zargar himself at Khyber Hospital. After the completion of procedure, my father was made to stay for night where he developed acute pain. Dr Zargar after the procedure didn't bother to check the patient; instead he hurriedly discharged the patient from the hospital," reads the complaint lodged by Mauzam Hamid.
The complaint said that the patient vomited a lot, but still then Dr. Zargar didn't bother to give heed to repeated pleas of family. The complainant said that in spite of repeated requests his father was discharged from the hospital though his condition was not stable. He said that on February 21 he took his father to the private clinic of Dr Zargar at Jawahar Nagar where after examining him, he (Doctor) directed us (family) to shift the patient to Khyber Hospital once again.
"Despite a word from him that he will check the patient, Dr Zargar didn't bother to visit the hospital. On examination of the patient and after some protocols, the Doctors declared my father dead. After the death of my father, what shocked me more was that Khyber Hospital had changed the content and date of discharge documents," said the complainant.
Mauzam said that it is crystal clear that the death of his father took place due to the negligence of Dr. Zargar and Khyber Hospital who discharged the patient when he was not stable. The family has asked the police to adopt a humane approach and register an FIR against the doctor and the hospital.
