Ire against Rohingya settlements appear on city walls
3/1/2018 11:12:42 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: While the leadership of Jammu has conveniently gone mute on the sensitive issue of Rohingyas in Jammu, the graffitis on the walls have started manifesting the ire of the common people of Jammu against the illegal settlers, who are becoming grave threat to their safety and security.
Even as the issue of settlement of Rohingyas in Jammu has been loaded with petty political interests and the issue is seen from the prism of religion rather than that of illegal migration of foreigners, the ire and wrath of the people is brewing to the brim especially after the recent terror attack on Sunjwan Army camp and incident of stone pelting at the same place a few days back.
It may be recalled that even the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly had to put his foot in the mouth and get his statement expunged from the record wherein he apprehended that Rohingyas who had settled in the vicinity of the military station could have provided support to the attackers.
It may also be recalled that the terrorists who attacked the Sunjwan Army camp had also written provocative anti -India graffitis on the walls of the camp. Now, while the locals of the area have at many places displayed nationalist slogans, graffitis against Rohingyas have recently come up around Sunjwan area on the outskirts of the city.
