| These days hectic political activities are being under taken by the century and more than a quarter old political organization - Indian National Congress (INC) aggressively. Suitable grounds are being prepared for gearing up of the field activities across the nation under the able leadership of Rahul Gandhi who took over as the President of the Indian National Congress in place of his mother Sonia Gandhi recently. Having deliberating much, the Congress High Command decided to install Rahul Gandhi as the head of +130 years political party in the country which fought against the British rulers in attaining the Independence in 1947.
Pertinent to mention here that the political history of the INC after Independence reveals that it had seen many ups and downs in the country's history of parliamentary democracy. In 1969, INC was divided into two Congresses - One was led by S. Najlingapa termed as Syndicate Congress and the other was led by Indira Gandhi and termed as INC-Indira which got the massive support of the general masses of the country and where as the Syndicate Congress was diminished ultimately with the passage of time.
There were well experienced and matured political leaders like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, S. Najlingapa,K.Kamraj,D.K. Brooaha Indira Gandhi etc.etc. who commanded and control of the Indian National Congress according to their wisdom and experience. Under Indira Gandhi rule, the country progressed well. She adopted the leftist policies and nationalized fourteen private commercial banks in 1969 and directed their respective Managements to work for the uplift ment of the down trodden and the weaker sections of the society in the country. She was a dashing and bold lady indeed and commanded the respect given by the people of the country particularly in the rural areas of the country. She also abolished the privy purses of the erstwhile Princes and Princesses. She proved her boldness in Indo - PAK war 1971 with her wisdom and disintegrated Pakistan into two Independent nations i.e. Liberating East Pakistan and making it as full fledged and sovereign nation as BANGLADESH and PAKISTAN on the globe.
INC headed the UPA I, II ruled this nation for ten years under the Prime Minister ship of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Governance of Indian Government under his leadership was considered as the weak governance totally as Dr. Singh was the titular head of the Coalition Government . Those were the Other political parties in the country which were part of his government were dictating their terms every now and then to the UPA Government at the centre rather they were blackmailing the UPA. Those were the days when these parties were ruling the country actually more than a decade whereas the PM Dr. Manmohan Singh was the nominal head at that time. A need of the hour is to act swiftly in safe guarding the interests of the party .
In the prevailing political scenario of the country , a wide vacuum is developing for the opposition unity under the INC banner . Therefore INC should try its best to en cash the opportunity .
At the moment , opposition political parties very much are there in the Lok Sabha but are ineffective as the Indian National Congress - a political party, having a background of more than 130 years which fought against the British Raj and ultimately succeeded in achieving the Independence of the country in 1947, has been reduced to the 'Skeleton' with the strength of only 44 MPs in the Lok Sabha.
Same is the case with other political parties which were dictating their terms to the UPA for running the government at the centre under the Prime Minister Ship of Dr. Man Mohan Singh .
After the killing of Madam Indira Gandhi by her security gaurds Beant Singh and Satwant Singh at her official residence in 1984, Rajiv Gandhi took the reigns of the Central Government . as the Prime Minister . After the death of the Rajiv Gandhi Narsimah Rao ruled this nation for a full term under UPA . Sonia Gandhi proved her credentials in managing the affairs of the Indian National Congress (INC) with her sharp skill and wisdom.
Under the prevailing political scenario in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it appears that INC may be revived with full swing as it has the base and the potential in the rural and urban areas . Since the Coalition Government of PDP and BJP is having the bleak chances of its continuance in power in the state because of the mistrust and coordination between the partners as they are ideologically different political organizations. Congress leaders are very much working in the field across the state having direct contact with the masses and are raising their voices against the inactions of the Coalition Government. There is good scope for their advancement.
Whereas at the national level, INC High Command is posing a threat to the existence of NDA government led by Narender Modi. This has been made clear in the debate and commentary telecasted by abp news 2014-2019 ( almost daily ) in which it gave the hints that BJPs popularity is declining day by day drastically and forecasted that if voting is done today NDA will fetch near about 280 Lok Sabha seats against the strength of 543. As on date, NDA is standing on the just margin which is a sorry state of BJP affairs.
Pertinent to mention here that INC had derailed miserably as it was continuously loosing its hold over the governance of the states and on the contrary BJP started improving its position and gaining the control of Congress ruled states in the country . Rahul has to bring lot of changes in organizational set up in order to get the positive results. Under this strategy he is to utilize the Competent Congress leaders in the right earnest therby discarding the black sheep in the party. Rahul has to show his firm existence in the party and shall have to work very hard in bringing his century old political organization on the rails once again speedily .
For strengthening the Parliamentary Democracy in the country , the revival of the INC is must . This is the demand of the day otherwise it appears that NDA would lead to the Authoritarian Rule in the country . which is not a good omen therefore at any cost, INC should be strong enough to apply the brakes to the NDA government at the centre so as to restrict it towards going on dictatorial path . Recently in the last month bi elections , INC has shown its existence in winning the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats .
Many important issues are there on which Rahul and his party can put Modi government on back foot. The issues are:-
1.Continuous cease fire violations by PAK and Fidayeen attacks
2.Kashmir unrest
3.PNB Scam
4.J&K Bank Scam
5.Rising Inflation
6.Resentment in Judiciary etc.etc. Congress is under obligation to read out the situation of Kashmir afresh and devise concerted strategy to counter the NDA government as it has not any firm policy on Kashmir as also to counter the claims of the State Government in Jammu and Kashmir . Also pertinent to mention here that the Coalition Government of two strange partners is going under uncertainty as the differences between the coalition partners are coming up publically .PDP has adopted the policy of discriminating Jammuites to the maximum extent . People of the state of Jammu and Kashmir are totally fed up from the under performance of the Coalition Government. In this eventuality, INC is to exert much and provide an alternative in the state of Jammu and Kashmir . It may take along other like minded political parties operating across the state the overall benefit of the people at large and start doing the exercise without any further delay as after two years Assembly elections are due in the state . |
