JAMMU, Mar 1: International Marathon Runner and first Barefoot Runner from the state Gaurav Gupta has been chosen as an ambassador for the first edition of Bathinda Half Marathon 2018. He has been honoured as the first barefoot marathon runner from Jammu & Kashmir. Gaurav was honoured during a function organized by Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta Foundation and the awards were titled as 'Rudra Awards'. The function coincided with the 151st birth anniversary of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Ji and the venue was Abhinav Theatre. Avinash Rai Khanna BJP National Vice President and State Prabhari was the chief guest on the occasion.
As decided earlier in an office bearers meeting yesterday, Secretary Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu, Gaurav Gupta ran 45.09 kms starting from Panjthirthi to Katra successfully dedicating this run as a mark of respect to the martyrs of the JKP, Para Military Forces and the Indian Army who sacrificed their lives defending the country from outside and within. Later Gaurav prayed at the Vaishno Maa to bless the souls of the martyrs and for the well being of their families. On return from Katra, Gaurav was welcomed at Chamber House by the President and other office bearers who felt very proud of him for the cause he did this run. DGP appreciate Gaurav Gupta for dedicating 45. 09 run to JK police, Army, CAPFS martyrs, "Just because life is pinning you down right now doesn't mean it won't let you fly later. Just because cancer is beating you up right now doesn't mean you won't beat it later," said Gaurav. He had called on DGP Dr. S.P Vaid after completing his run from Panjthirthi to Katra. He says, "You can't run from fear, you can't escape it. But you can choose not to be afraid of fear, by having the courage to face it and move forward."
