Meri jaan Hindustan slogans in Lahore, eye opener for separatists
3/4/2018 12:02:13 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 3: Denizens of Gilgit and Baltistan took to the streets in Lahore recently to protest against taxes levied by the Pakistan government on them.
Protesters raised pro-India slogans like "Jai Hind, Hindustan Zindabad " and "Meri Jaan Hindustan." They raised anti-Pakistan slogans like "Pakistan Murdabad."
Protesters said that Pakistan has been ill treating the residents of Gilgit and Baltistan since 1947 and has eventually turned these areas into its colonies. "We are being asked to pay the taxes through our nose even for keeping domestic animals in our households," they said.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that these protests should serve as an eye opener for the separatists who are preaching sedition and separatism in Kashmir. "These protests an ample proof about how the Pakistan treats the people of Gilgit and Baltistan, which is a part of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir."
He said, "The people who are radicalizing Kashmiri youth and are asking them to pick up the guns to turn Kashmir into Pakistan are just doing it for money. They don't love Kashmiris. They are just hoodwinking them for filling their own coffers."
A Kashmir watcher said, "People of Gilgit and Baltistan are Muslims and share a common bondage with the people of Pakistan but see the irony even after 70-years they are being treated a second grade citizens. They have to pay extra taxes to ensure that they are not jailed."
He said, "People of Gilgit and Baltistan have on many occasion reiterated that they want freedom from Pakistan and want to merge with India. They even appealed Prime Minister Narenadra Modi to come for their rescue and free them from the clutches of Pakistan. After being a part of Pakistan they have realized that they made a wrong choice and they yearn to be with India."
