Sources said that in the item no 80.36 a resolution on Empanelment of Legal Counsels was brought before the council. "The need to revisit the existing panel of legal Counsels of both the Universities and desirability of engaging the services of reputed legal firms having Advocates of long standing and reputation on their rolls", resolution read and added that the VCs of both the Universities (JU, KU) will get and list the name(s) of senior and reputed Advocate(s) and sent it to the Chancellor for obtaining his approval. "Advocates who shall be empanelled from the list so submitted, initially for a period of three years, further extendable by another two years", the resolution read and same could not materialise.
They said that the item no 80.25 of the Council talks about One Man One Post, but it could too not be materialised. The resolution further resolved that the progress made and tangible outcomes gained from such MOUs were concluded by the University during the past ten years be reported at the next meeting of the University Council.
